What's new

How many here have bought this for starters?

there are issues with gold dollar razors (bent spines, etc), though my understanding is that the guys who mess with them and then resell them (like kenrup) fix any major issues before honing them up and selling them.

you should be right to start with that kit

Thanks for the replies guys!

I have about 40 or so DE blades left, then I was thinking about getting a straight when those blades have all gone.

Look forward to an update later on TRICKY!

Mantic bought the same set-up, not sure how he is getting on with it though.

Geez... now that Mantic is in, maybe I need to wait a few months till he makes some videos :w00t:

Just playin, I really can't wait to get my hands on the razor and filly!

I bought a Gold Dollar from another vendor and honed it shave ready myself. I honed it to 12K then .5 and .25 micron on paddle stops. It is a very good blade! It is one smooth shave! I experience no QC problems with the razor.

Ken is a very reputable dealer and he is a honemeister of some repute. I can't speak highly enough of him. In fact, he has another str8 of mine that he is putting some special (I supplied him with some Circassian Walnut blanks) scales for me.

Go for it! Enjoy! You won't be sorry you did!

Ken of ruprazor.com is a great seller. He takes care of the QC issues and will put a fine edge on the razor. It's a great buy.

Thanks for all the useful positive advice.

Sometime next year I am likely to get a starter straight.

Cheers!

I ordered a GD & filly but am still waiting for it to arrive. Argh!

I bought from Ken because I've seen nothing on B&B but glowing reviews for his services and products, and a lot of respect for him as a honemeister.
