What's new

How many do you have?

Just curious to know how many straights you guys have that's in your rotation?
One for each day of the week? Month? Year?
Do you have "X" amount of German, French, etc? Or so many of one particular brand more than another? Or maybe more cheap vs. high dollar or vice versa?

I only have one razor, the one I'm using at the time. Doesn't matter where it came from, or how much it cost me, just so long as it does what I want it to.

I have "several" in rotation and more-than-a-literal-handful that are awaiting my attention. Seriously, I tried picking them up in one hand yesterday and several slipped off the top onto the floor! Talk about jumping out of the way...I'm glad they were taped shut and they hit carpeting...

Same here.
I am afraid I went a bit crazy on the restoration projects.
What I can shave with, in order of preferences:
1/ Le Grelot (Vintage French)
2/ Thiers Issard Taos (New French)
3/ Wapienica (Vintage Polish)
4/ Dovo renaissance (New German)
5/ Morley and Murphy Wedgeway (Vintage American brand, German steel)
6/ Pribyl Bros (Vintage American, India steel)
7/ Larkin (Vintage American brand, German steel)
8/ Union Cutlery (Vintage American) - my only successful restore project to date

Waiting some tender love, about 30. Lots of Vintage french (including a few more Grelots).

Ah hem... I have a few. Goal is to own two or three 8/8 from every region. Sheffield, Solingen, and Spain are done. American and Swedish have been difficult to find.

Need to have enough that the addition or subtraction of one is not noticed

This is my current "rotation" of shave ready ones. I usually pick on out and shave

I have close to 30 straights...I think my problem is that I keep running out of things to hone, so I keep buying more & more razors so that I can continue to hone. As much as I enjoy shaving with a straight, I enjoy honing them that much more...:thumbup1:

In rotation,, guessing 150. But at least double that could be honed up and used but they are not restored. I like them restored before I use them.

As far as the most of one brand in particular it's the W&Bs currently at 25 or so.

I have close to 25 now I think. I have maybe 5-6 which are pretty much in my rotation, but the others aren't mostly because I haven't got the edge I want off of them. Once I figure that out, I think I'll have 10-15 in my rotation (of course, I always want to buy more).

i tend to get the ones that look nice to me. the ones that stay around have some value to me.

I've got 2 W&B's...a Special & a Bow, a Zwillingswerk, a Jo. Elliot's "Hamburg Ring...Try Me", a Torrey & a Scheonburg (haven't tried it yet). All those are 6/8. I don't want to mention the 4/8 & 5/8's that i'm wanting to sell/trade...LOL!

Too many for having started down this road in Feb... up to 7.

Let's see;

Dovo BQ 5/8" (the first from TSS)
Wosty Pipe 5/8"
W&B 1/4 hollow 13/16"
Henckels Twin Beauty 5/8"
Kropp 6/8"
Boker 5/8"
Boker "The Flett" 5/8"

At any given time the W&B and Wosty are usually ready.

The rest depend on my relationship with that riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma, known as... my coticule bout.
