How many Aspirin to add to my witch hazel?

Ok, I've been using both TendSkin and witch hazel for the past six weeks or so with really good results. I use them separately TendSkin each morning and night, the witch hazel I use after shaving and after each time I wash my face. I'd like to stop using TendSkin if I can, while it really nukes any ingrown hairs that crop up, I find it harsh on my somewhat sensitive skin.

I can't conveniently get Thayer's WH locally so I've been using WH from the pharmacy, it's a solution of WH extract in 15% alcohol, I add a few drops of essential oil to add a nice sent to the WH I've pured into an easy to squirt bottle and presto I've made my own Thayer's - sort of, anyway it works well for me.

Now I'm thinking of adding crushed aspirin to my WH toner and ditching the tend skin. My question is how many aspirins should I add to a 118ml (3oz?) bottle of my WH solution? Does 4 sound right?

Thanks

None. Not unless you're a chemist or doctor or something. You can burn your skin and stuff. Buy Tend Skin. You also help support a great small business man. Don't believe it, give the guy on the bottle a call.

What is the purpose of the aspirin? Do other AS have it in their ingredients? I've not seen it, but I'm far from being an expert. Acetyl salicylic acid is the chemical name for aspirin, so it seems to me you're adding an irritant. Enjoy your shaves!

I did google it, and I did find a bunch of recipes, mostly conflicting. I was just wondering what B&B members recommend?

I haven't tried it, but a crushed aspirin (and I believe a little liquid to create a paste) helps alleviate ingrown hairs. Myself, I use a soft bristled toothbrush to go over my chin area mid-day when potential ingrown hairs may start causing issues.

I have previously used a quarter of a 300mg (75mg) aspirin tab in a little water, maybe 50ml. And applied it straight on to my skin, let it dry and then apply my usual skin cream. It worked for me but I only do this if I've had an attack of ingrowns or a shave rash.
