How is Baxters face wash and moisturiser?

Hi all,

I'm currently approaching the end of my Men-U face wash and moisturiser.

I've been using it for a while (this is my third lot!) but wouldn't mind trying something else!

What are Baxters' products like? How do they compare to Men-U's?

Do I really need the toner?

I like the menthol tingle I get with Men-U, so maybe this is something I'd miss if I switched.

I have fairly normal skin, which can get a bit shiny later in the day. I guess it's normal/combination!

Thanks,

John

The Baxter's Face wash is good but very non descript. No particular smell or texture or specific identity. It is just...white. They do make a crazy-good scrub, though.

Toner is fun but the novelty wears off pretty quickly. I preferred the Sharp's Toner myself.

Neither Sharp's nor Baxter's toners have any appreciable menthol, so yes you would miss that part.

Get the toner, soak it with some cotton pads. Put the pads in a baggie and keep them in your car. You can pull one out and clean-up and de-shine before you go into places.

Yes, they will eventually dry up if you just leave them around. It is more of an "occasion" thing. Still, a nice treat in Texas' summers, I find.

I prefer the Men-U face wash over the Baxter. Baxter kinda has a thin, almost milky texture and doesnt really foam up. I dont mind the non foaming action, but it does feel a little weird after being used to washing with foam/lather. They both clean really well, Baxter is probably a little more gentle than Men-U. Men-U has a nice cooling effect, which is great after a shave. I also noticed less breakouts when I was using Men-U, as opposed to Baxter...probably due to the tea tree oil Men-U uses.

Overall Men-U is one of the best face washes Ive used.

I used Men-u face wash and other products for years and changed them to Baxter's just for change. I like both ranges very much. Men-u is cheap and they last long, come in easy packaging and smell nice.

Baxter's face wash lasts for ages in my use. It is way much milder to my face than Men-u. As said, it doesn't smell at all and doesn't foam a bit. I also like Baxter's toner and I recommend using toner in addition to face wash daily.

Baxter's Scrub is also a superb product but some have said that it might be a little too coarse. Baxter's moisturiser and night cream are both also excellent products, but yet again quite mild in smell.

One thing I don't like in Baxter's is their packaging. Especially bigger bottles can leak easily if carried sideways.

Btw. Baxter's ASB is also very nice! My favorite just after Korres Marigold.

I have oily skin and use Kiehl's facial fuel wash and moisturizer, both have a great methol and eucalyptus cooling effect. I use Thayer's Aloe Toner and keep a cannister of the Thayers pre-moistened aloe toner pads at the office, very inexpensive ($4 for 60 pads).

baxter products are a tremendous value and work very well for the price. my face wash probably has 2 weeks left in it, and i've been using it since november. the men-u was a little too harsh for my skin, even using just once a day, and i wasn't too fond of all the chemicals in it. when i switched to baxter's face wash, my face cleared up in almost 2 weeks.

one thing men-u does better than baxter is the packaging. i cant stand the new baxter bottles, but i am more than happy with the products themselves, so i;m willing to bypass that issue.

i currently use the baxter toner as well, though you can also use thayer's and get the same results.

My Baxter's face wash lasted forever and it worked alright...nothing spectacular. The moisturizer I thought was quite good for the price though I sometimes found I had to re-apply it after an hour or so. It wasn't as good as the Clinique M-lotion I used to use but of course it's half the price.

I would never recommend Baxter’s face wash, toner or moisturizer; not even on account of price. I really, really don’t think they’re worth a penny. First, the face wash has to be used two to three times to get any effect; second, the toner is just ridiculously bad compared to any other toner I’ve tried; and third, the moisturizer is so oily it encapsulates your skin and you start to get breakouts (at least, that’s what happened to me). So when it comes to face washes, toners and moisturizers go for Clinique, Kiehl’s or… well anything else really.

That said: Baxters do however make an excellent scrub! That I would recommend.

I only had a sample of Baxter but I prefer Men-U products. I find they smell nicer and work better.

YMMV!

Baxter's iss my favorite face wash, my feels super clean after. I have normal skin.
My face feels like it worked just fine.

Men-u is another good suggestion. I follow up with the Men-U Lift Moisturiser. Provides a nice one-two punch :thumbup1:

I love the brushless shave cream but it seems to be best for not too heavy growth as its not that thick of a cream more like a lotion.

The bump something gel (sorry forgot the name) but it's to deal with ingrowns and shaving bumps works excellently too. I also use it on zits and it heals it almost overnight. dont be put off by the price as you use very little. I have a tube that I am sure is past the expiry date but it still works fine.

I like the Baxter Supershape SPF 15, but I am trying Bull Dog Eco-System moisturizer because I want a paraben free product.
