How do you use a shave stick?

I know this is a dumb question :blushing:, but I've got two Euro Palmolive shave sticks and can't figure out how to use them?? They have a green base and then foil around the actual stick. Are you just supposed to apply this to your face w/o a brush or what :confused1

Thanks,
Tod

I just used my first STICK the last few days.
I started with La TOJA and used PALMOLIVE today.
I keep the green cap on. I took all the foil off. I did this so the stick will dry better. I don't know if this is "best" or not. I'm new to stick.
I use the tip opposite the green cap to wipe on my face.
I find I don't need to coat my face as a wee bit lathers up nicely.

When I'm done with applying to my face I put the brush to it.
I soak a brush then wring it out just in my fingers.
As I brush and make lather I dip JUST THE TIPS of the brush in hot water and commence to find the correct water/soap ratio.
Don't be afraid to dip the brush It took me several water dips till I liked the lather.

As in all this...don't rush it...and use plenty of water...
Good sticking!

ADD: How do people store the stick? I just placed it back in the box, didn't close the flaps and put it away....

I have the same question. I bought a stick for traveling with, thinking in the field in the Army, no bowl to use.

Does someone sell tubes to store these in? How about tubes for a brush?

Many sticks come in a tube. Not the PALMOLIVE though.

A deoderant case?
Shave a stick and put it in a lipstick case?
More info is coming from the more experienced

Mama Bears sells twist tubes to make your own. She also has plastic soap tubs. Here is the link. You can use a empty pill bottle for your brush. Ask a pharmacist, punch a few holes and good to go.

DR Harris and TOBS sticks come in plastic cases.

As do the Boots (UK/Euro chain of chemists) sticks which are even cheaper than Erasmic or Palmolive. If you are in the US this info may be of no use to you though, my apologies!

Personally i use to do a "fistbowl" and load my brush with soap when I use a shave stick like Palmolive.

The idea is to simply grab the stick like this and take a couple of strokes with the brush and build up a lather on the face with the brush after that.
Or I just load the brush to get the "soapy goodness", take a little bit of shavingcream and build up the lather in a regular bowl.

(Sorry for my English, im from Sweden and just 16, but I hope you can read it anyway :))

Axel, awesome idea! :thumbup1:

Smearing around in your face and then lathering with a simple pure-badger is definitly the best way to go with a soap-stick.

Silvertips are not very effective with soaps.

Good advices up here.

If you want to face lather with cream.

You can put a small quantity on the brush and proceed to the face

or

I put the cream on my fingers, rub it in the bear and then use the brush.
