how do you secure/protect a brush for travel?

ive got a parker (inexpensive) brush with a great "light bulb" shape. right now (and as a newbie) i was thinking of inserting it inside a slightly larger size tube of PVC white pipe like you would use for yard sprinklers. what all do you do for your brush when traveling with luggage? thanks in advance!

I went to the pharmacy and asked for a large empty prescription pill bottle. She handed it over without question and it's perfect. Drilled some holes in it and it works great.

Pill bottles are the most compact.

Be sure to ventilate the top and bottom well so allow air to flow through to reduce the potential for mildew.

A plastic tube or a ventilated pill bottle sounds like good options. I just carry a cheap drugstore brush in my duffle in a zipped pocket in my toiletry kit. Been doing it for years.

My brush goes in a Mühle tube for travel.

Here's another option. I was at the hardware store this afternoon because I needed a few fluorescent bulbs for my shop. They were selling plastic protective sleeves for the bulbs which looked to be the perfect size for a shaving brush. Sure enough, my brushes fit perfectly. Since the sleeve is 4 ft long, you could have a custom holder for each of your brushes if you so desire. They were cheap too...about $2.50.

I travel with my razor in a regular sized glasses case with hard cover, and my brush in an extra large sized glasses case that is normally used for large sunglasses. Seems to work well for me

Used to have fun with Commander Yellow Pantyhose
I travel with an Omega 11047 in a Simpsons travel tube. Works great and looks great.

I bought a bunch of the vulfix travel tubes and use those. They are solid and look good. About $10 each plus shipping and very solid. I like to bring 2-3 brushes when I travel and having matching cases is important to me because I am ocd.

+1 on the Muhle tube, as an extra idea for longer travel the tube can be unscrewed to change the length of the tube. I can carry two brushes in the same tube this way.

I have one with a nice little fleamarket brush, Gillette Tech (disassembled), spare blades, and a sliver of Mike's Natural from a sample in my permanent "go bag" in the car. It all fits easily. A very large pill bottle might do the same.

For years I used a thin glass spice jar from the Container Store (you know, has a plastic top with one flap you open to sprinkle out the spice, and one flap to spoon out the spice). I would leave both of the flaps open for ventilation (there still was a cross piece of plastic to keep the brush from coming out). I would suggest finding an all-plastic version or put some padding in the bottom of the glass jar. I didn't use padding and over the years, it chipped the edges of my brush handle. Also, an all-plastic version wouldn't have the potential to shatter.

Recently I have switched to the Muhle tube (though I am debating adding some extra ventilation holes to it).

I use a piece of cardboard that I rolled into a tube and taped off. My brush fits snugly, and I throw on a rubber band that covers both ends and keeps it from slipping out. It isn't the most elegant solution, but it was done in a bit of a rush when I realized I needed something to protect the brush but needed to get on the road in a hurry. I'll probably source something out now that I have time to think about it. I really like the fluorescent bulb protector idea.

A Simpson Case brush in the Case that I think it was named for. It will also fit my Commodore X1. I think the best one going would be the Muhle Travel brush, if you can find it in the equivalent of Simpsons Best Badger. It is very compact and has a nice sized handle. (The Muhle "Pure Badger would be great for scrubbing pots.)

I use a 3-pc break it down into a pill bottle.
