How do I make my soap fit this bowl?

I bought a Moraccan Thuya wooden bowl but the the bowl is about 1/2" to large on each side, 5" in diameter rather than 3.5". How can I make my soap fit this bowl? Do I need to grate a soap and put in the bowl or find a soft soap, like P.160 and make it fit the bowl?

I find putting it in a microwavable container and microwaving it into a liquid, and than putting it in the Wooden bowl to form with it always works.

Just watch it, because soap tends to melt fast and it will come over the top.

Yeah, assuming it's tallowed based and not glycerin, you're probably best to grate and remold.

Can I take a Penhaligons soap and put it in a Cuisinart and shred it and pack it to fit into the bowl?

You could try that, a cheese grater is usually best!

No need to grate or blend it, just shave the edges off with a sharp knife and put the excess underneath the puck.

Grate it (or some variation thereof) is the only option. If you microwave or boil it, you'll ruin it.

if its a soft soap like ARKO shave stick. its soft enough to just smush it in with your fingers to form fit the bowl. if its harder i bowl some water and put the soap in the bowl, pour the water over it and let it sit for while then mash it in. sometimes this works unless the soap is really hard then the grate method would apply.

Look at this B&B link. You don't have to get the neat device in the pictures, just use your (wife's) hand cheese grater. Everything else would be the same.

Bought from an Ebay site; dj51florida or search for "Moroccan Thuya burl wood Round Box?.

Also, I contacted the seller (Dave) and told him what I'm using the round box for and he indicated that he might be able to get a "Mushroom Box" that might be more shave soap friendly. He contacted the guy who he buys these from in Morocco and will let me know.
