What's new

Hope you gentlemen like it

Interesting.

Feather artist club razor, perhaps?

Not sure the guy had too much stubble to shave off, and it wasn't clear that he got all that good a shave. Looked a little red on the neck area.

The guy had pretty bad/blotchy skin to start with...I don't think the shave contributed to that.

This place is interesting, the one I have been to is located on 4th street in Long Beach were a lot of bars are. I tried to get some of my friends to go, but they are to stuck in the modern salon and cartridge system that they would not go with me. The guys there are helpful and can really adapt to the style haircut you want.

Yes, I think the customer was obviously a worker, and the whole shaving thing was rigged. Yet the interesting thing -to me, at least, as a complete foreigner to SE- is how the barber uses the lather, always anticipating the next movement...

The blade is a Feather but that's as far as I can help

That's my barbershop. I have been going there for years. My barber is the one in the blue shirt. The video actually shows the shop in Costa Mesa and the one in Long Beach. When the cut is complete, the barbers always shave the back of the neck and around the ears with a disposable straight, Feather AC for Donnie, he loves Feathers. He just opened a new shop in Sydney Australia and he made sure that all of the barbers there would be shaving with Feather razors.

Here is the straight shaving video:

The Shaving video shows a Feather Artist Club in use. In the hair cutting video, they also show a Mr. C Disposable Blade Straight on the bench.

The Mr. C is a cheaper form of the Feather Artist Club, and uses the exact same blades. :tongue_sm

Love the barber pole tat on the flat of the hand!
thanks for sharing

Told my wife last night, I would love to get a haircut there. I love the old school ways and old school barber shops are getting hard to find since metrosexualism has started to define manhood.

The good old barbers are retiring/dying. Fortunately, I have found a guy here that is in his 50s and does it the old school way complete with neck shave and hot towel. He charges more than others (25 quid) but is worth it at least once a month.

I have to admit. I have entertained the idea of going to Barber School myself. Here where I live it takes a long time to train and get your license.

I think I'd love it. There's just something special about the whole experience. If done right and the atmosphere is right, a visit to the barber shop is way up there on the list of things I love doing. I'm tiring of sales, and really want to simplify my life and lifestyle.

As macabre as it sounds, when my wife's grandfather goes to meet Jesus, we'll probably move home to his house, and that's when I'll do my training. My barber growing up is getting up there in years, and he doesn't know it yet, but I'm going to buy his shop.

What makes it worse is there are not many barber schools around anymore. The closest one to me is about 45 minutes away in city traffic and I would have to train part time.

Great vids. We still have an old barber shop in town and one of the two barbers is probably only in his early forties so it will probably last a while longer. They no longer do face shaves but still save the neck. They give great hair cuts and are fast except they talk too much. It's a hangout for old yellow dog democrats so I don't go there any more. Not a good idea to argue with a guy with a straight razor in his hand.

Looks several of them wear the Hamilton Ventura watch. Think they are sponsored?

Really anjoyed watching that. I sure wish there were more barber shops in my area.
