Homemade Bay rum?

I was wondering If anyone has any experience with making their own Bay Rum AS. I have found several recipe's online and was thinking of trying this one.
1/2 cup witch hazel
2tbsp. dark rum
2 bay laeves
1/4 tsp allspice
1 cinnamon stick
zest from 1 small orange

anyone know of a better recipe?

You left out the vodka

Witch hazel is often added, but is not that good of a replacement for vodka. I think what you'll end up with on this recipe is a very potent mixture that might make a decent cologne, but not a good aftershave... certainly none of the burn commonly associated with bayrum

I made some, but I didn't care for the witch hazel. It made my skin feel waxy. Other than that, it smelled great and was very easy to make. You can also add some cloves and peppercorns if you'd like.

If you try it take note that the bay leaves are not the kind you cook with. Different plant species entirely.
