Hoffritz Razors Better than its Merkur maker?

In my Hoffritz collection, I have a Hoffritz OC, a Hoffritz two piece slant, and a Hoffritz three piece "super" slant. The Hoffritz OC, a 3 piece, shaves extremely close with acceptable aggressiveness ( read not as aggressive as a Tradere OC 1st Gen or a Muele R41 OC). The Hoffritz 3 piece Super slant shaves just as closely as the Hoffritz OC. It's a toss up. It is also of similar aggressiveness. I will reexamine shaving with the Hoffritz two-piece next week when it's back up in my rotation. So far, the Hoffritz brand seems of superior quality than its Merkur counterparts. What do ya think? Who else has experience with the two companies?

BTW, I'm loading the razors with Feather blades.

I will post further comments when I shave with the Hoffritz two-piece.

I have a few Hoffritz slants in varying degrees of appearance. the main one I use has a fully brassed out handle but the base plate and cap are fine. gives me a great shave EVERY time - you can't judge a razor by it's finish!

I wish they were - that Zamak is horrible, in many cases it corrodes beneath the plating, so a razor may look in reasonable condition with only a few light pits but can look like a 'contour map' once stripped of old plating. I need to break it gently to someone that this is the case with their Merkur :-(

I have a question, aren't the old Hoffritz razors made with solid brass?
