What's new

Hi, my name is Leighton, and I have a suit problem....

It all started with Nordstrom's Last Chance and finding a $100 Boss suit for sale. Then I got another one. And then I wondered if used suits on ebay were cheap and got another Boss. And then I found AAAC. At that point, it was all over. I've got two Oxxfords, two Hickey Freeman's, an Oxxford navy blazer, and one bespoke suit (used). I've still got a JAB black, CK in navy pin dot, and a MW I've split up into jacket and slacks.

I think I have a problem.... :001_huh:

You do know that you're posting on a site where at least 50% of the members have an acquisition disorder and this is considered normal behavior? :biggrin1:

You have a very nice wardrobe and there's nothing wrong with wanting to dress well. There are actually a lot more people addicted to clothes than to collecting razors. If you were to join a clothing forum similar to B&B, your wardrobe would be considered skeletal. Oops, scratch that. Bad idea.

Well, at least you've taken the first step, which is to admit that you have a problem. However, you forgot to mention your shoe purchases. :hand:
You have to be completely honest in order to recover.

Now stop fondling those Oxxfords and step away from the closet.

truth be told, you're doing what any one of us would be doing if given the chance. we don't have a Nordstrom Last Chance here in Minnesota so not $100 HB suits for me but I guarantee if I knew of an outlet where I could get myself a suit at low price i'd probably have as many as you.

So you've got a suit that has been made up from scratch to someone else's measurements? Then is it still "bespoke"?

I have no idea, but I am even more clueless as to what to call it. It was listed as bespoke, I guess I'll call it bespoke. Otherwise, I suppose its just a hand made light grey herringbone with full canvas construction. But I think calling it bespoke might be simpler on the tongue. :tongue_sm Ok, fine, I suppose I could call it by the tailor's name, but it just has the previous owner's name on the tag.

Bah, that's nothing. Come back when you have a dozen bespoke suits ... that you did the bespeaking on.

IIRC, you have some significant 'fit' issues going on, in that you can't often find a suit in your size. Now that you have a few suits, and assuming your suitAD can't be quelled, I'd suggest not buying anything that isn't a "bull's eye" suit. No, not bird's eye, bull's eye ... not a type of cloth, but what I mean is don't buy a suit unless it's a perfect fit, perfect fabric, perfect everything. ... at a bargain price.

Yes it's still bespke, it's just not being worn by the be-speaker. :001_rolle

I'm tempted to.... Really tempted to blow some student loan money on one. My tailor makes bespoke suits out of his house starting at $1600. A real bargain IMHO. Not sure how much is hand stitched, but I'd imagine quite a bit. Anyway, bespeaking shall be for the distant future.

Yup, I'm all done. Two navy suits, 2 charcoal suits, 1 grey suit, a bunch of other colors (Boss & others). Only bought the second Oxxford because it was navy, the jacket shoulders fit perfectly, and the length was spot on.

Don't think I'll ever find a suit with enough waist suppression though. Maybe someone will get fat.... (maybe it will be me.....)

Nothing wrong with a few suits. I've got 8. It's handy to be able to rotate them and share the wear. There are some ridiculously cheap pre owned suits on eBay. Jump onto eBay UK and see if you can get a genuine bespoke Savile Row suit.

Don't get me started.... I've been eyeing ebay international every once in a while looking for that bullseye.

However, I do have a serious problem. I'm running out of closet space!!!! (money too)

Don't you have a shoe problem as well? I know we were both discussing recently aquired pairs of AE shoes. I am considering another AE purchase right now. Been thinking about it since Friday night. The sale seems too good to pass up! :w00t:

'Tis another thread...

Actually I've managed to keep my shoe addiction in check. After I sell this one pair, I'll have three casual leather bluchers in brown, two "sneakers," three black cap to balmorals, one burgundy PA, and another burgundy blucher (which is going to go into my casual shoe rotation once my PA arrives, and I think I'll sell one of those brown shoes. See, not that bad. At least according to CS's collection....:biggrin1:

Hmm. I just counted my shoes...
2 loafers, 5 lace ups (2 tan, 1 brown, 1 "chili", 1 dark brown, 1 black), and 2 boots. This does not include my sneakers, which include a few pairs of Converse and Sketchers (which I don't really wear anyway).

I'm considering another pair of loafers too.

VR6ofpain, leighton, enjoy your clothing; it's your money. Do you want it on your conscience that people are fighting over your estate because you never spent the money you earned?

I compliment you on your taste in clothing.

You have the kind of problems that I want heh. I have been trying to get into a couple suits and some nicer shoes. It's a little more difficult for me as I work in IT. But I am trying to break the jean habit, getting close though.

Eh you don't have a problem yet...I have 10 or 15 suits and just picked up a Burberry London a week ago. The sad part about is my job doesn't require suits I just wear them for the heck of it.

I'm not going to need to wear suits to work for some time (if ever). I need to find a good excuse to wear them anyway.
