HHT test. Try this please

I have been using the HHT test lately for various reasons and though my shaves are always great I do notice a slight difference between left and right. I though it was from changing hands but I spent some time trying to correct it and its still been slightly present. I don't know if other people would notice it in my edge or not as no one has ever said anything. Tonight after I honed and got a good solid HHT4 razor in right hand bevel up and hair in left hand I could not get a decent HHT of any sort when I tried from the opposite side of blade whether I changed hands or just flipped the blade over. It took me several retries at honing to get the edge with a semi equal HHT on both sides of the bevel. This before stropping I might add.

I would like others to do a HHT on both sides of the blade and give their answers and if they already went through and corrected this problem. Thanks,Scott

* Remember to flip hair if swapping it from one hand to the other but not if only flipping the blade over.

Hey Scott,

No diff left or right side of the blade for me. One was a BB kamisori grind, the other a Jenes symmetrical grind. Both are heavy grinds tho'. I don't have any full hollows at shave ready ATM

Just tried it Scott, results seem pretty equal on both sides. It was a bit more awkward using my left hand though. Maybe that's a bit of a variable too.

Is this before or after stropping a freshly honed blade? I am testing before. I also tried with a de blade and it was as easy with either hand so it is down to the honing.

Ah. I don't bother HHT any more until after I strop on my voodoo sprays . Next time I touch up I will test before hand.

Scott, I have shaved off your edges before, and I do not remember there being a difference. Both sides were awesome.

Just tried it on two of my blades - no difference. Didn't do it right after honing, though. Will try it the next time I hone one and before stropping.

If you remember with a freshly honed blade before its stropped I'd like the result please. Thank you

I can try on the Asprey if you want, but it's had three shaves since you honed it. Actually, I can also test on the puma when I get home and give results for both.

tried from both sides using both hands. off a 10K chosera edge thats been used 2x stropped on linen/buffalo

using my right hand with blade reversed it passed equally fine

using my left hand with blade normal, it passed just as well…

root facing both ways
