What's new

hey there is a j peterman and he has bay rum!

Yeah, I didn't know there was an actual J. Petermaneither, until the show had been off the air for years.

I haven't looked at a Peterman catalog in years. It reminds me of the days when Banana Republic was the same kind of operation. Now it's just a jumped up version of the Gap. Sigh.

Dominica Bay Rum is great stuff. They make both a straight Bay Rum & a Bay Rum w/Lime. Both can be had elsewhere for a better price. Barclay-Crocker, for example, sells both flavors for $15/bottle (as opposed to $18 from Peterman).

I just ordered from J.Peterman, the total cost with shipping is the same as Barclay-Crocker, they charge $6.95 shipping on a $14.95 bottle. OH well I always liked Peterman anyway.

The J. Peterman 1903 Cologne smells woody. My wife gave it to me for xmas a few years back. I really only wear it in winter.

The shaving cream and ASB are supposed to be decent but expensive.

Many years ago, I had a very classy set of khaki and leather braces from Banana Republic. They were so nice, I had suspender buttons sewn into all of my slacks. I, too, miss that Banana Republic. *sigh*

Talk about nostalgia - how about Abercrombie & Fitch? I can remember them as the premiere outdoor supplier, from trout streams to the wilds of Africa. I have in my rotation one of their badger brushes the size of my fist and about five inches in height. Now that's a brush!

I bought so much stuff from them back when they were selling interesting gear. Great surplus khakis with fly buttons, an old bomber jacket, Ghurka shorts, linen handkerchiefs and a strange pair of Franco era Spanish twill trousers with no front pockets. My buddy bought a couple of beautiful leather bandoleers too.

I was holding onto a nice commando pullover that I bought there until it was stolen while I was on vacation. Heartbroken!

I picked up the 1903 shave cream on a trade. Good stuff. I'm on the lookout for the aftershave. It's a nice scent but I'm not ready to pay rack rate yet.
