Help with identification

Just won this Gillette and wonder what year, and please, tell me I did good! Got it for 14$ and that's a good price here in Sweden.

Welcome, and that's a nice razor you've got there. It's a Single Ring. There should be a serial number on it, almost certainly on the guard plate, that will allow you to date it.

My guess to, I have to wait then. Not shipped to me yet. Hope this one qualify me to the B.O.T.O.C!! I have 3 others OC's as well. Mond Rotbart, National and E.V.D, last two swedish Gillette lookalikes!! :)

I think it is more accurately a Standard Old Type, could have been from a number of sets. I thought "Single Rings" title was strictly assigned to the silver plated razors?

It's very nice whatever it might be ... would be cool to shave with a razor that is so old.

Did Sweden make it's own razors or just copy Gillette?

Some people do seem to want to distinguish between the razors like these made before and after the patents expired, and I've heard the post-patent ones referred to as "Standard Old Types" in that context. But I personally don't see much point in dividing them up as different named models along that line, when they're really basically the same (102 to 102A head change aside).

As for the gold vs. silver plating, nearly all of the Old Type sets were available in both platings, so there's definitely no reason to change names on that basis.

Sweden did make some own razors. I have one E.V.D and one National open com both and copy's from Gillette. Shave is almost the same, don't use them much att all. I buy a vintage razor and shaves with it one time and that's it. Except my Fatboy and sone Superspeeds.

I have some btter pic's to show. Headplate says "K 140606" And on the handle"PAT NOV. 15:04" Not sure about the last two numbers, the 0 looks like a C turned the other way.

I agree with porter on this one too.
