Help me with a Sweet Marias order

I've been roasting a blend for the past few months, and now with some more tasting experience I want to experiment with single origen again. Anyone want to suggest 10 coffees to try? I am primarily making espresso, and also doing some french press.

only 10?
My favorite espresso was a blend of Monsooned Malibar, Brazil and an acidic Central (guat/chiapas). With 10 to purchase you definitely could hit all the major growing regions and put together a tour of the world. Go after wet processed/dry processed coffees - it's always interesting to see the difference. Also, different varietals of arabica can present a neat tasting experience. Take it with a pound of salt as everyone's tastes differ, below are a few:

Esmeralda Gesha :biggrin1:
A dirty Sumatra such as a Mandheling (nothing triple picked) - I see SM has an aged, it's worth a try
A Kenyan - bight, acidic

You really can't go wrong with SM. Maybe just focus on different regions and types of processing.

Agree with @barko78's comments. I would try to get a few coffees from Central America (guatemala, costa rica, panama, etc.), South America (colombia, brazil, ..), Indonesia (java, bali), Africa (kenya, ethiopia, rwanda, ..) and compare the differences. Getting some wet processed vs dry processed coffee would also add some variety and different flavors.

Even within the same region or country the taste can vary quite a lot, so don't drawn any absolute conclusions based on your first experience. (Which I know you will not do, just reminding).

It's hard to go wrong with Brazil for SO espresso. Both of the Brazil lots Tom has for sale should be pretty good. I happen to like pulp natural process coffees when I can get them. Just don't roast them real dark as they'll get ashy tasting. I also like coffees from El Salvador and Guatemala for SO shots.

Yes I first started out with small orders from SM never had anything I was not happy with. The shipping from the States was the killer though.
Like other have said try SO's from different countries, everybody is different, one size does not fit all, enjoy !
