Help Identifying Vintage Set

Guys,

Earlier this year, my father gave me a shaving set that was given to him by his father in the early 1970s. It was purchased at David Orgell, a fancy gift shop in Beverly Hills, and has never been used. The set consists of one cartridge razor handle with one cartridge attached (which I am unsure exactly how to remove or replace), one small cup, one shaving brush, and a stand for all three items. There are no identifying marks on any piece of the set, including underneath the silver brush base. I believe the set is silver plated so am currently working to remove all of the tarnish from it but still have a few questions that some of you might be able to answer. My current badger hair brush is pure so I am unsure exactly what type of badger hair this is; can anyone here instruct me how to correctly identify this brush? Also, is an unused badger hair brush that is nearly forty years old still an excellent brush? Is anyone familiar with this particular type of razor and if so, how do I remove the old blade and where can I purchase new blades? Concerning the set itself, has anyone seen a set similar to this set before? My grandfather is no longer living and my father is not the most sartorial man so what do you think this set would have originally cost? I do NOT plan to sell this set, since I will now make it an heirloom item, but are these sets collectible or monetarily valuable? Sorry for the barrage of questions, my fellow shaving brothers, but thank you for your help.

Matt

That looks nice.

It looks like the brush is a boar, not a badger. Nice handle too. If you can find a way to take off the blue padding, there might be a name or identifying marks under there.

Good luck with the search.

I wouldn't sell that if i was you. I'd keep it.

George L. Lara,

How are you able to tell if the brush is a boar or badger hair? There are plenty of guides online to walk you through which one to buy but I can't seem to find anything that helps one identify the brush in front of them. Thanks for your help (and Foyle's help as well).
