Help Identifying Razor

My father in law just gave me an antique straight razor that belonged to his grandfather. I have been doing a bit of reading, but I haven't been able to identify the manufacturer or any more info about it.

The only marking I can see on the razor is a stamp that says "N & S" and "Refined Steel" below that.

The scales are made of wood and are in pretty rough shape, but the blade appears to be in pretty good condition. I'll try to get a few pictures to post of it in the next few days.

Any info you guys could provide would be fantastic!

Indeed that post does mention N&S. The razors he posted pictures of in that thread both look much older than the one I have. Mine has a more 'modern' shape to the blade with a well defined shank and tang. Also, mine looks to be a hollow ground blade.

Have any of you guys heard of N&S or know anything about them? I'm wondering how long they were in business and where they were made.

I'll see if I can put up a pic of the razor tomorrow morning.

Ancient thread but I was curious if you ever found any info about the N&S brand. A customer just gave me a razor that has been in his family since at least 1900-1910 (so he thinks).

This one is a near wedge with "N&S" stamped in the tang along with "REFINED STEEL".

The spine has "WARRANTED TO SHAVE WELL" stamped across it.

The blade is all original with very light hone wear, albeit inconsisten home wear. It has black horn scales, a lead wedge and brass pins with a single flared washer.

Any thoughts or updates?
