Help Identify Gold '47 Super Speed?

Just got this razor on Ebay. I'm thinking it's a '47 Super Speed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In the first picture you can see it's a no-notch, pretty sure that makes it a '47.
No date codes on the bottom.

Thanks.

The gold-plated TTO that is very similar to a '40s style Super Speed is in fact a Milord.

Sharp looking, and a wonderful shave!! This will be one of your favorites! :thumbup1:

Thanks guys. So essentially, for all intents and purposes I ended up with that holy grail, the '47 Super Speed. In GOLD nun the less!!!

Time out, people!!

First of all, it is a Milord, per se. But, it isn't a 1947. The 1947 Milord was the gold version of the 1947 Super Speed or Aristocrat Junior put out the same year.

What you have is the gold plated version of the 1946 Ranger Tech, the predecessor of the Super Speed. These were produced in 1941 and in 1946. The earlier version had no end caps. Yours had the end caps and the smooth lower band which identifies it as the 1946 version, also known as the Milord Tech in a marketing campaign via discount catalog.

Nice job, as always brother Guido....

Cool. Thank you very much. I just saw the post from a few years ago where someone was saying that post war they were Super Speeds. Hence the confusion. I only saw the pre-war Techs and noticed that they did not have caps, which furthered my assumption that it was a '47.
Thank you for clearing this up.

Very cool piece of history. Enjoy it!

Like Guido says it's actually a 46 and the head is different than some 47s and later. Not all 47s have the same head. Some have the gentle slope to the safety bar like your 46. Some are stair stepped like the 48s and later.

The head profile of your 46 as it tapers down to the safety bar is smooth. I think this is the head that got the 47 such rave reviews.
For me this gives that "Magic razor and blade combo" when teamed up with a Derby or an Astra platinum.....Enjoy.
