Heated Shaving Mug

I just saw an ad on the auction site for a Thermoshave™ Mug, which apparently is a mug in which a small metal bowl sits and which plugs into an AC outlet. I was wondering if anyone here has tried this and how it would compare to using a scuttle - maybe more convenient because it would heat up while you shower? TIA.

When I lather up, I have an incredible amount of lather still left on my brush for repeated latherings. All I do is run the tip of my brush under steaming hot water for half a second, and reaply. Works very nicely! Give it a shot.

I tried a tin cup on one of those USB warming plates. It didn't work very well at all. Although the warming plate got quite hot, it didn't transfer very well to the tin cup. As long as you have reasonably hot water out of your tap, using a standard scuttle is fine. If you want it hotter than that, get silver plated shaving cup and put hot water in that. They transfer the heat to the brush and lather quite well. I used one through winter and I was very happy with it.

I picked up a perfect sized pottery bowl at a festival last weekend. I just set it down in the sink of hot water between latherings. The lather is always warm on the subsequent lathers.

I believe that item was developed by a B&Ber. Check out this thread:

Nice explanation of the inspiration and the methodology to make it safe around water, etc. I'm mostly a face leather, so 98.6 works for me at the moment, but it looks pretty slick. I think he offers a discount for the B&B crowd, too...

If you get one, tell us all what you think!
