Head shave with GEM 1912

A few weeks ago I purchased my one and only SE Gem 1912 in user grade condition. I purchased CVS blades and had went for a head shave. It was awesome! Much better than my Feather Personal. One pass and it was BBS. I am very impressed. Now my questions.

Does anyone else choose SEs for Headshave? If you do post which one you use daily or which one you feel is the best.

Hi Joe: I am enjoying my DE dome shaves that I have not had time to try out my SE razors (yet). I have the Gem G bar, EverReady, Gem, Gem Jr, Gem OC.

I did use my Schick Injector during my travels and I had a DFS but not BBS as with my DE razors. I did participate in the Cobra Classic tour and the CC razor gave me some close BBS dome shaves.

Hopefully... one day I can try out my SE razors exclusively but I'm having too much fun (for now) with the DE razors.

1912's can give a great headshave. Just keep the skin tight or it might bite.

Do you stretch the skin a lot when you shave your head? Its easy to do when shaving your face, because you have a lot of dry real estate to grab. With my head I haven't had that same experience. The only time I've been able to is after a few passes, when my head is mostly shaved and already dried out.

I use Alum on my finger tips. It helps alot.

Best head shave ever:GEM Flying Wing "Bullet Tip" Micromatic
From the 1040's I believe.It's all business,but very smooth-easy to hang onto and more important easy to find the proper angle no matter where it's at on your head.

But the truth is:
Single Edge blades are so darn good for head and face shaving it's hard to find a SE razor that I can't live with.The GEM 1912 will work fine

My preference is GEM Coated Stainless Steel Blades.Lots of shaves and No Rust

I haven't tried injectors yet. Looks like that will be the next one one my list.

Anyone used both injectors and other single edge razors (like a 1912 or a bullet tip) for headshaves? I'm a daily headshaver, and am very curious. I've used injectors and my Merkur slant on my head. Always looking for better options. How to build a better mousetrap, and all that...

I know this thread is not recent but thought I'd contribute anyway:
I head shave every other day. I've tried just about everything. My #choice is the Schick adjustable injector set on 9 (max) with a chinese shick blade. #2 choice is Ever Ready '24. Great razor! I just picked up my first lather catcher and it shows great promise. I'll have to try it on the head tonight.
