Hardest Puck to Kill

Since the SSAD hit me, I've acquired many of the highly esteemed soaps, including MWF, AoS, Tabac, VDH Luxury, Palmolive, Speick and various Italian soft soaps. I'm slowly wearing down all of them. That is, all of them except the MWF...I haven't even had it that long; maybe a month. It just sits there, mocking me, screaming "are you not entertained!?" I am entertained, but I expect some progress. I don't know how many times it's been lathered...maybe 20, 30 times...at least enough to put a dent in it. She still looks like she did the day I got her. I've heard to never get a parrot or a turtle, because they'll probably outlast you. I'm starting to think the same about MWF.

I've heard how long it takes to kill a tub of MdC, but I can't imagine anything outlasting the fat. Is there anything tougher?

I still haven't tried MdC but yeah, the "Fat" looks like its barely dented. It rotates between Speick, Mike's, Tabac, 2 different D. R. Harris, and a Crabtree and Evelyn (and the occasional "I feel like x today") and while all of them bear the marks of the brush, the "Fat" still looks pretty fresh.

My puck of Pre de Province has lasted YEARS. Literally.
I don't use it as often now as I did when I first nabbed it. But it was my exclusive soap for at least 6 months and the darn thing still looks brand new, and is still a fantastic soap.

Haha. Pre de Provence, for sure - with the amount of soaps in my stash that one's gonna out live me! I've had it for about a year, maybe ~20 shaves or so into it and you can still make out the writing on top:biggrin1:

The pair of MWF and Tabac should last you a year or more.
Shaving both face and head nightly, I got a year out of the pair with maybe 25% of my shaves using a different soap or cream.

This all sounds like a good problem to have, fellas. I LOVE the MWF and my Tabac stick and am thrilled to know that I'll get so much mileage out of them. Once I settle into a groove of what REALLY works for me, I want to have a good handful of go-to's that will allow me to spend my cash elsewhere...like aftershaves, brushes....or groceries .

I can't seem to kill my first brick of Mikes.

I'm killing Mikes. Seven uses in with my ultra dense brush and it's got a small dime size Hoke in the bottom. Of course I lather WITH the soap in the bowl too may have something to do with it.

Well, have a puck of Bath House Spanish Fig and Nutmeg that I've used quite a lot without noticable effect. My vote would go for any triple milled British-style soap. They seem to last a very long time.

+1 on Pre de Provence as the hardest and most durable soap. I used to have trouble lathering it, so I tried to grate it--no way!--and then resorted to chopping it up into small pieces--I should have used an ax to do so! In any case, it now lathers beautifully, but it doesn't wear down. Excellent per shave value.

Tabac lasted longer for me than the Fat. I got a solid 4 months out of Tabac. I think it was a little over 3 for a puck of MWF. They both seem to hold some water and will shrink with non use and reinflate when you pick back up with them. Both will finish quickly as a soupy mess at the bottom of their bowls when you've finally resolved that they will last forever! I'd love to get back to a puck of the Fat...
