My bagpipe band, Phoenix Pipe Band, will play tonight for the Marine Corps League Birthday Ball. It is one of my favorite gigs. Happy birthday jarheads from an old army guy.
In spite of having been in the army, I took my grandson to one of these gigs to teach him about pride, loyalty, service to country and above all, RESPECT for those who serve him.

We didn't go to the birthday ball, but I picked up some Hostess Cupcakes on the way home. We watched the Commandant's message on the laptop, then I read General Lejuene's message. We cut a cupcake with my sword, and my wife got the first piece as the honored guest. I got the next two as the oldest and youngest Marine present. The kids seemed to like it.
