I love my brushes and a good face-lathering.
However, after forgoing the brush to save time recently, I've found hand-lathering to be very effective.
I find the "cushioning" effect of a thick lather to be unnecessary---maybe overrated. A good, wet, thin layer of soap is more effective in getting me slickness and comfort.
Further, I can feel unshaved whiskers very accurately as I reapply lather with fingers. It's quick, too.
i now use a hybrid method, doing the initial lather on my face with a brush, squeezing the lather into and applying subsequent passes with my left hand.
Its the best of both worlds...and I get great shaves this way. I can enjoy the smell of the lather in my hand for awhile, too.
Does anyone else do this?
