GZD Shave Soap and $1.75 plastic Bestshave DE razor

Since the search function chokes on the term GZD I will make a new thread here. GZD is a soft stick that is best smashed into a mug (which I have done) and used as a puck. The lather quality was great once I got through the bubbly starting lather, I loaded for approximately 75 seconds. I actually had the best shave I have had in a long time but I did change two variables -- the soap and I used the Bestshave plastic $1.75 DE razor for the first time. To smush GZD (or Arko) get a shaving mug and a large pill bottle like the jumbo bottles of vitamins come in. Place the stick in the mug and squash it with the pill bottle.

The plastic razor was quite aggressive but did not catch (and did not nick like sometimes happens) on my neck like my other razors do. I used my usual Personna blade, using a fresh blade with the razor. If they could make a metal DE razor that shaves like this one did tonight every time I would be ecstatic! One note -- the blade exposure isn't quite the same on both sides but that doesn't seem to affect the shave.

I also bought the 140g puck of Derby, it may be a bit before I use it but I will try to remember to post my thoughts when I do use it. I bought a stick of Arko as well but that isn't a new soap to me and my thoughts about it are already posted somewhere on here.

Also, Bestshave is based in Turkey. The Turkish Post has been having issues lately so the usual one week mailing time is now six to seven weeks if my case is any indication. If you don't mind the wait and want to save a few bucks the site address is www.bestshave.net

Just a tip, try

GZD site:badgerandblade.com

It should return what you are looking for. But, yes, good shave stick!

Thanks Luc. I didn't think of that. I assume that would work with any three letter brand I would want to search for.

While reading ingredient lists on some of the soaps I purchased I noticed that GZD does not contain parabens. For those unfamiliar to parabens some members have had issues with them. Here is the ingredient list: Potassium Palmkerenlate, Potassium Tallowate, Sodium Palmkerenlate, Sodium Tallowate, Glycerol (glycerin), Paraffinum Liquidium, Parfum (scent), Titaniumdioksit (CI 77891, a coloring agent), Deiyonize Su (I think this is water, that is the only thing I know of that is deionized for cosmetics).

As this soap is only $1.75 it may be a cheap option for those sensitive to parabens. It does have to be shipped from Turkey so I would bunch up a few other items in an order so the shipping per item isn't so onerous. Bestshave.net just happens to sell blades cheaper than most if not all of the competition and he does sell in quantity. Astra (green) blades were $1.04 per ten or $8.49 per hundred. Astra (blue) is $8.95 per hundred, he does have a decent selection of blades, creams and soaps.

Bestshave seems to be sold out of GZD currently. Hopefully they get more in soon as it seems to be a quality product.
