Okay, my bottle just showed up today and I'm testing it right now on my wrist. I have not sampled the most recent formulation of GV, but this is definitely superior to the sample of GV I got over 1 year ago. The tobacco and vetiver notes are a little stronger and richer and it feels less subdued overall.
The other version I tried was nice, but it's almost a bit watered down compared to this 90s formula. Per basenotes, I've heard that the most recent formula came about due to EU cosmetic regs and they had to take out some of the oakmoss...I'd imagine that resulted in a pale reflection of what I've got here.
Now I'm really curious to try a 60s or 70s bottle to see what those are like...
If you want this, check ebay. I believe there is some on there right now. Be prepared to pay more than a bottle of the newer stuff though.
