Great Summer Beard Convention of 2013

I'll have to admit, I've had plenty of good times shaving with DE's for the last year or so, but once again the time has come...

The summer is here and I can't stop noticing how fast my beard seems to grow, so I thought it might be a good idea to treat myself with a challenge. Surely I'm not ditching shaving all together, no Sir. I've been thinking about growing and maintaining Van Dyke: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_Dyke_beard.

Two weeks gone and I'm trying to go through to the end of July and ponder about how to spend my cold winter nights in the future.

Anyone else up for the challenge?

Or are you just enjoying your gear and Limes (for sure) cologne too much to even consider?

The Itch is quite annoying, I'll have to admit.

I guess a picture is worth a thousand words here:

(Razor vs. Electric)

I dream of going towards Maybach look, but I'm a bit so/so if I'll ever get there.

Of course I'm not suggesting that I would get to that sort of mug during one summer, but maybe a few - dozen - tusen - summers.

I had a full beard for a couple of years and the only reason I got rid of it (much to SWMBO's objection) was because I caught the wet shaving bug. I scaled back to a goatee. I know the itch well from the times I would shave and regrow the beard. It passes though! Hang in with it. Beard oil helps.

Went down to the barber shop today.

I'll have to admit, it was very hard not to ask for a shave while my barber was trimming the edges with a straight razor.

But forward I must go and not to open too many shaving gear pic links and such :)

I'm growing my beard back come September.

My wife doesn't like the beard.

I do.

So, I gave her the summer off...

According to the Feather Razor Corp researchers, your beard grows fastest in September. So, that's my ETA for beard blastoff part 2

6. season and time zone beard grow most?

You grow most of the day in the morning, until 10:00 from around 6:00 am. Growth is poor most the day on the other, I'll be a little growth also in the evening. Growth is becoming worse and gradually become in the middle of the night. If you look at every season, beard I grow most commonly in the fall.I started falling with a peak in September, the lowest in February.Growth increases also from the spring. It has not been well this cause.

The curls on my handlebar are in my line of sight. It is kind of obnoxious.

Things like that could help me find back home after a night out, hmm!

So far, only curls here - no handlebars. Itching has come down a little bit, to a tingle. Being a blond, I just hope that the red would fade away pretty soon, some might think that I've colored my beard to fit the crowd (Somali elders color their beards with red henna over here).

I have a nice 2 month growth. I messed up shaving and had to do a full clean shave went hunting for a week and didn't shave the whole time when I came back I said lets see how this goes and have not yet shaved. Now that summer is almost in full affect it's a little annoying but I would like to see how much of a beard I can grow I never had one so it's interesting.

I've had my beard for almost a year and a half now. It hasn't been itchy except for the first 3 days. I clean up my neck and cheeks and shave my head bald.

I had a full beard for over two years. Stopped shaving because carts irritated the heck out of my skin. All i did was trim it with hair clippers and edge it up.

But since i started shaving with a DE since last july, i mostly keep a full goatee, and sometimes i let my beard grow (not too heavy) and keep it lined up with an injector.

I will say that i miss my full beard. I may grow it back out this winter.

I agree. Everyone should grow a full beard.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to post a link to my Veganpalooza Extravaganza on the Kansas City BBQ Society forum.

I grew my first sort-of beard between February and April. I think I went around six to eight weeks without shaving. Maybe it was less... It felt like a long time. Could have been more like three... Maybe two and a half...

It was an exciting time and the beard was well received (stellar reviews from The WSJ, Washington Post, USA Today, etc.), but it ultimately got on my nerves and was terminated. I have oily skin and the beard was trapping the oil and giving me acne.

Growing a beard in the summer sounds masochistic. Isn't it supposed to be a winter endeavor? No Shave November, or something? The last thing I need is anything that's going to make me even hotter. (Because I'm all ready entirely too sexy.)

I have been growing a handlebar and goatee since november, and have stepped it up to a full beard the last month. I still shave my neck every other day.

Ive honestly never grown a beard before (Im 25, the most growth ive had since ive been able to grow facial hair has been a week on the cheeks and a month for the goatee.) Its been an interesting experiment. My wife was skeptical at first but she has come to really like my fancy moustache and beard.

I like to brush it with a boar hair military brush. It helps straighten the hairs out and fight the curl.

I like how my beard looks but i miss shaving.

Take a pic please. I'd like to show it to my wife. See how she reacts to it.

I'm rocking seven days of face beard. Still shaving the neck and head. Like Seraphim, wife hates the beard. I think it's going to go until the cold weather of Maine comes back, which could be any day now.

Rip, summer beard no. 1.

Had an accident over the sink. I was trimming the edges but suddenly just took the wrong turn and suddenly there was a patch missing underneath my chin.

Will start again when back home this week.

I have to admit though, that it made me look older. Yesterday a Canadian thought I was 45 - even without any facial hair - although I'm still 30. Made me wonder, that adding a beard might not be a success with the ladies.

I will say this the ladies love the beard im 28 and get alot of compliments on it daily. The old lady loves it I am indifferent so far I like it like the look but miss shaving. I do shave my neck line everyday. I def feel old and was looking through older pictures and found one of my father at 30 and we have the same look hair style and beard kind of scary.
