Granddad's Brush!

I was talking to my dad today and asked on a whim if he had any of his old Gillette razors hanging around. No was the answer, but he then proceeded to say that he'd found an old brush he'd been meaning to show me. :thumbup1:

I know it's an Ever-Ready, but have no idea of model or size (assuming it's banded boar?), so anyone who's good with IDing is more than welcome to chime in. According to my dad, this was property of my grandfather. He's 90 and time is finally and sadly starting to claim his mind, so this would be an incredible keepsake and reminder of a genuinely wonderful man. My first instinct would be to send this off to Rudy Vey or Bob, but I think the meaning probably calls for a self-restore. About which I know nothing. Should be interesting...

It's boar, in pretty keen condition. Try soaking it in hot water and maybe a tablespoon of distilled white vinegar for a few minutes, wash it out with some soap and try lathering with it. That puppy may not even need a restore.

I did think it looked surprisingly solid. I will give it a shot, though the knot looks small for my taste.

+1 try to lather with it. If it is still in good condition and already broken in, replacing the knot would be a shame. :thumbup1:

I agree that is a great looking Ever Ready. It looks good and should make some great lather.

Anything of your Grandads is something to keep and treasure.

I think that's an Ever Ready C40. It doesn't look like it needs a new knot. It looks pretty fantastic. I'd use it as is. It's probably nicely broken in..
