My experience as well. I thought the Grafton was the most appealing. It is a great cream! This is very, very subjective stuff. You need to get to a shop and smell 'em all.
Working my way through the sampler. Grafton is the second I have used(the other being limes). It is exactly what the description says. Should be used for black tie afffairs. It reminds me of my grandfather for some reason, not that it smells like an old man or anything. It just reminds me another time, you know? Would definitely recommend it, the shave is GREAT!
I have both and love both. If I had to describe the difference, I'd say that Grafton is a slightly older, more mature scent while Trafalgar is the younger scent. Grafton is more refined and subtle and harmonious. Trafalgar is more aggressive, more driven by its base notes.
Honestly, you need to smell and sample each before making a decision.
I'm now an exclusive T&H user,it's been a fun journey finding that out but they give me the best results, anyway, for me it's Trafalgar 1st,layered with the aftershave balm,1805 2nd again with the balm, then Grafton,i dont have the balm for Grafton yet,i've just used the ultimate comfort cream and was pleasantly suprised.
I have the sampler, prefer traflagar slightly more than the grafton with 1805 tied for second place. However, I don't really enjoy the T&H lathers so far which surprised me. I've tried from very dry to very wet, with and without their pre-oil, and no matter what I do, I get much more irritiation and what feels like a lower quality lather than I do with my other favoritate soaps and creams:
Proraso Cream
C&E Sandalwood & Sienna, both Soap and Cream
GFT Violet Cream
Edwin Jagger Sandalwood Cream
SCS Rasberry Soap
In my opinion the T&H shaving cream that has the best scent is the 1805.
Anyhow, between Trafalgar and Grafton, I prefer Trafalgar's fragrance more.
Scent aside, these two creams perform both equally well.
