Got O-Rings?

I picked up some o-rings at Home Depot last night to replace the one in my Touchdown. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get the existing o-ring out of the barrel without messing up the threading for the blind cap.

I ended up using a fat headed sewing pin to get the o-ring out from my cadet. It worked pretty well, and kept me from messing up things.

Ask Luvmysuper Phil about Orings in sheaffers I believe he as well as Doug both have done this

Brian may have as well. There is a section on Binders site on how to restore a touchdown though

Yeah... I've visited that page quite a few times since getting this pen. It'll be nice to finally get the TD mechanism working.

A dental pick with a right angle at the end works well; I have used a paperclip but they're a bit thick for the job - I suppose you could file one down to a point and that might work, but they tend to bend easily where the dental pick would not.

SOme of these comments aren't exactly filling me with hope! :behead:

It isn't that tough. I promise. :thumbup1: If I can, anyone can. Once the old one is out, the new one acts like it is twice as big as it needs to be, but once you get it into the groove, it is all good. It took me about 5 minutes (at the most) to remove the old one and put the new one in.
