Got my shavemac D01 2band with extra short loft

Arrived yesterday, had to show it off. Knot size is 24 mm and loft is 46 mm. Should be a face lathering beast, will try it out tomorrow morning.

Congrats on the awesome brush. Shavemacs are top notch and Bernd is a pleasure is he not? I got a 24mm super flat a couple weeks back and could not be happier with it. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do. The hand grip on this little brush is quite nice dont you think?

That looks very impressive! I would really like to know your opinion of this brush, since this is exactly the combo I would like - 24mm knot with 46mm loft. What I'm looking for is a super soft brush with backbone, which it seems the D01 hair should provide. In addition, I want the brush to release lather. I don't want to have to squeeze the bristles to get the lather for that 2nd and 3rd pass. Please post your impressions once you've used it a bit.

Thanks for the replies. Will post a mini review once I've broken in the brush a bit. I do agree that the handle shape is quite beautiful, I like the combination of bulbous top and contoured midsection.

Lando, What size is the Rooney. I have been looking at both Rooneys and Shavemacs lately.

That is a style 1 size 2 or medium, and perfect for me. Although many are happy with the 1/1, I have read some who thought it was a tad undersized.

Very nice, enjoy! my 30/55 scrubber (right). The 28/65 left is quite stiff too for its height. Shavemac rocks!

:w00t: I like them both! Are they 2 or 3 band? I see a little bit of color at the bottom but I'm assuming they are 2 band as my 2 band looks about the same. I would love a 30mm like that. Maybe someday I'll pick one up.

Lando, if you do not mind, could you please take a picture of the bottom of the brush's handle?

The brush looks great. What do you think about the loft size? I have a 50 mm three band D01.

I'm predicting you will need a lot of patience to let that brush break in properly.

My 2 band D01 in 28mm with a 65mm loft took literally months of occasional use before I could really enjoy using it. The tips where always soft, but it felt like it had no flow through, a real hog and the backbone was tremendous. It really came around thou.

I suggest you do the vinegar soak and plenty of practice lathers on it to accelerate the process.
