Pens are pretty much like razors, soap, aftershave, blades, etc. You can stop at one, but what fun is there in that? LOL

Congrats on the purchase.

Yeah Johnnie that sounds about right...

Welcome to the nib, you can sign out anytime you like, but you can never leave

I also have that pen, and while it is not a top shelf pen, it is a very decent pen for the money. If you don't like it, send it to someone just starting out with fountain pens. You will only be out about $15.00 so it is not like you shelled out half the mortgage to get a pen. I no longer use my Nemosine just because I am so happy with my Lamy Studio, but I still keep it around just to have an extra pen handy.

The Singularity is a great pen, and affordable, too. Get yourself the .6 and .8 calligraphy nibs, they do wonders for your penmanship. :wink2:

After using it, I love it. But I do think I need a M nib. SWMBO said it will make a more flowing, prettier script. Since SWMBO said it, it must be true! So I can order a M nib and say it is SWMBO approved!:001_rolle

Don't be scared off by the xfountainpens "calligraphy" nibs. They're just italic, which means thick on the down strokes and thin on the side strokes. Your handwriting will look like some old dude who signed the Declaration of Independence! :thumbup1:

WARNING! This means she wants you to get HER a medium nib pen. It will disappear shortly after it's arrival. I won a Pilot Metropolitan here a few months ago, I showed it to my wife and she tried it. She said casually, "Hmmm, that's nice." I haven't seen it since.

She always has been a devious thing!! Thanks for the warning!:wink2:

What kind of ink would you recommend? I like blue.

There's a few blue inks available. Here...pick one! http://www.gouletpens.com/Swab_Shop_Blue_s/817.htm

EDIT:
I shouldn't be so flip....as you can see, there are hundreds of different blue inks available. You need to select a general color range...anything from pale blue/turquoise up to very dark blue-black. And then give us an idea of what kind of writing you see yourself doing. Do you need a waterproof/tamperproof ink, are you looking for something with interesting color variations (shading), something for general writing/notetaking, and what's your budget? Inks can run anywhere from a few dollars a bottle up to $28-$32 for some of the higher-end, boutique juices. One option is to select a few inks that look good to you and order some small samples from Goulet; that way you can try them without making a big commitment.
