Good Vibrations!

I just tried out my Stahly for the first time, and it was easily the most comfortable shave I have ever gotten! I figured it would be a different experience from my other DE's, but I literally could not tell when this thing was mowing through my bristle. It was amazing!

The only downside was that I had to wind it every twenty seconds or so. Is that normal for this type of razor, or is mine starting to feel its age?

I just acquired a 1947 Stahly that's never been used before. It's a dream to use, but I need to practice with it because the mechanism masks the usual audio feedback. I get 3-4 minutes per wind. It takes three winds for a 3-pass shave.

How do you know it's a '47? I bought a Stahly from a flea market a while back. I wasn't able to find any date codes for it. Mine winds well and runs for 2 or 3 minutes. I haven't tried it out yet.

I gotta go dig a couple out and grab my watch! I don't remember them running quite that long - 2-4 minutes - a long time. Another razor task to do!

Never actually timed it myself. That is my totally subjective estimate. Maybe we I get home tonight I'll wind it up and get an "official" time.

Looks like I'll just have to buy more Stahlys! The one I have is in beautiful condition, so I wouldn't mind keeping it as a showpiece. It looks great in its vertical clear case!
