Good skin moisturizer for somebody with OILY SKIN?

What's a good facial moisturizer for a guy with very very oily skin? My skin was so oily until about the age of 25 that most days when I woke it my eyes would burn because of the oil that's run down in my eyes. Even now it's still oily.

I'm currently using Gold Bond skin Aloe, which isn't bad, but it makes my face feel hot and now that the weather is getting warm, I need something different. In years past I just never even used face moisturizer.

Shea butter.

I have to disagree there. I have oily skin and have tried unrefined shea butter and even just a teeny tiny dab of it..I'm talking about the size of a baby aspirin, turns my face into a grease slick and will not absorb.

I usually do not use anything, but occasionally, I will apply some Nivea Replenishing A/S balm to my entire face after a shower...it's super light and soaks in well and doesn't leave my face greasy.

I wouldn't consider my skin oily but an aftershave with alcohol helped it a lot!

witch hazel would make a nice job as it did on me. I have a Mediterranean skin (classic oily) and worked fine. Give it a try and tell us.

Good luck :)

If you're skin isn't dry do you need to moisturize? I've always had oily skin and didn't feel the need to moisturize until I hit 40 and started to dry out a bit..my skin; I still drink too much ; ) Even now I usually just need it in the winter and I go for oil free stuff. Lately I find I like Thayers alcohol free witch hazel with aloe.

Geo F Trumpers Skin Food is a glycerin based balm which keeps my skin happy. I'm not a fan of oil based balms. Maybe you could have a look at this?

I have oily skin as well...Shower soap--+the new Old Spice bars....aftershave with alcahol reduces skin oils especially on the face...shampoo-->Neutrogena T Gel--castor oil removes the excess hair/scalp oils

Areas of my face are pretty oily, and I've been using Pinaud's Bay Rum aftershave with great results. I splash it on very liberally twice after I shave, over my whole face, and I'm usually left with much less oil at the end of the day. I don't find the alcohol to be the least bit drying on my skin, and if I feel the need to moisturize the Maca Root aftershave cream from the Body Shop works well without leaving my face feeling oily or greasy. Lots of other products I've tried leave me more oily than I am naturally.

I have oily skin as well, and am prone to weekly breakouts due to a high sensitivity to most products. I've got a nightly routine now that has left me breakout-free for the last 3 months since I started it, and my skin now feels great.

1 - Wash with Jack Black Daily Wash
2 - Quick scrub with Witch Hazel on a cloth
3 - Quick scrub with Oxy for sensitive skin pad in my worst spots

It sounds like it's a bit much, and I'm sometimes embarrassed by the 3-step regimen, but it's the only thing that works for me. The regimen is far less embarrassing than the breakouts I used to get, particularly for a 40 year old man. It absolutely does work for me, and takes maybe a total of 3 minutes.

In the winter time only I'll sometimes use a bit of Baxters Oil Free moisturizer around my eyes.

YMMV

Also, drink lots of water! It's really good for your skin.

Most of my life I hated water, it was literally one of the most foul things I could of think of to drink. However, I finally deciding I need to take better care of myself and stop drinking obscene amounts of soda and sweet tea...seriously I drank a 2 liter of soda or a gallon of heavily sweetened tea per day (I'm a southerner after all :001_tongu)

I started drinking at least a couple of glasses of water a day and now after about a year I exclusively drink water and nothing else. I drink about a gallon a day, it varies depending on needs of course, a hot/active day I can go as much as 2 gallons...sometimes I spike it with sliced lemons or oranges (no sugar) when I want a little more flavor.

I've noticed many health improvements, but one of which is better looking skin and the oiliness has been reduced by half.

Here are really nice and most informative post. I think you should use Butter or you can also wash your face with milk. That was the best natural moisturizer. Must try it. Anyway I would like thanks to all of you that you share your ideas here with us.

How about Lubriderm 3 in 1 light fragrance lotion. It works really good for me with oily skin.I've tried so many things so far and that is the best i can end up with.Without spending fortune .
Its widely available and worth a try .

Oily skin needs lots of care. One should wash their face 2-3 in a day simply with water . Mine is also oily skin I use Oil of Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer .Which works good

Here is what I do

Kheil's Rare Earth Deep Pore cleanser or Ultra Facial Oil Free cleanser every evening

SheaTerra Shea Nilotica East African Shea Butter (Certified Organic) every other evening. Even though it is counterintuative (ie makes face greasy) But I have found that it absorbs well overnight and face looks great in the morning.

I have mildly oily skin and I find that Witch Hazel works well in the mornings and that's it. I rarely need lotion or any moisturizer because my skin isn't dry.

If I did go with lotion, which I might do a bit in the winter, I've used Nivea sensitive skin and that works well. Or some other kind of thin balm.
