A few weeks back I got a hot tip about a B/S/T post for a pair of SOCs (a boar and a two band) and I just missed out by a couple minutes. I saw that the seller (DrColossus11) and I were located in the same area and I sent him a PM to let him know that if he was ever looking to sell such nice brushes at such silly prices, I would gladly make a trip to save him on shipping.
A few PMs later, after I had let him know some of the things I would like to try some day, DrColossus let me know he may have a few things that would interest me and invited me out for a beer or three. After telling my wife that if she didn't hear from me to inform the authorities that I had been abducted by a presumably well groomed man, I took the leap of faith and reminded myself that most here on B&B are pretty damn fine people I popped into the agreed upon rendezvous point.
It didn't take long to realize I was in more danger of staying out all night long chatting about shaving, sports, and brewing beer than of being abducted, though my suspicions were well founded about the well groomed part. I wish that I could have looked into the minds of any of the other patrons when our bar table turned into what many would consider a very nice den. Highlights included a nice long comb new, an SOC boar, a TGN finest, some SIM, some Valobra unscented and menthol, some AOS unscented tallow, and some DR Harris Arlington. Just about all of these things were very high on my wish list, many of them I hadn't even shared because I didn't think I would ever really get the chance to ever try (see SIM and AOS tallow).
I let DrColossus know that these things were all extremely appealing to me, but that my shaving funds were slightly limited. He told me that he was sure my funds were sufficient, and eventually he left me with a bag full of goodies and a he let me pick up the modest bar tab. To be honest, I didn't think he was even going to bend on the bar tab.
By the end of the night I had met, in person, one of our members. He massively improved the size and quality of my den and also ratcheted up my appreciation for the quality of our membership without no expectation of getting anything in return. It was refreshing, and completely the opposite of what I expect from most people in today's day and age.
So a big thank you to not only DrColossus, but also everyone that makes B&B one of my favorite places to spend my time. I am still new here, but I look forward to spending plenty more time here, getting to know our members and spreading the wealth of information available here.

and in a week I was PIFed an Omega boar to whet my appetite for boars ( searching for a face lathering monster) and won a PIF for a Gillette Old Type. The boar came from Nick in Chicago and the razor from Sean in OR. The generosity here just amazes me. I belong to another shave forum but spend most of my time here, glad I found you Gentlemen. I love this place, sounds almost like a song by TK.
Would be good to see some Glasgow people in person
