good aftershave? balm or splash?

I am looking for a new aftershave, i currently use an alum block and lucky tiger disappearing cream. But i feel it leaves my face a little dry, so i want something else but what is better a splash or balm?? i am looking at cat o' 9 tails, frostbite, tabac, HTGAM aftershave. Do you guys recommend any of these? i am looking for a best buy also, so i dont want to spend 40 bucks on something small.

Pre de Provence aftershave balm is really nice. I also use Speick and Tabac balms, I like 'em both. Just got some Myrsol Emulsion, haven't tried it yet. I prefer balms for the colder months living in Minnesocold. Summer, it's all splash.
