Gone Mad With The Spending

Well, following advice, thanks lads, I've gone and ordered my first boar hair brush. The Semogue 1305.

Unfortunately it didn't stop there...

I also ordered a Rooney small style 1 too.

Ooooh and i ordered some Geo. F. Trumper extract of limes soap.
Don't you just love paydays...

You have covered a lot of bases with this splurge. You will enjoy each one. Your biggest mistake however was the Rooney 1/1. Now you're doomed. It is simply one of the best brushes ever. You will now be searching for better and more complex variations on this theme. And, sadly, will go broke doing it. So sorry. P.S. What grade did you get it in?

SBAD is one of the more expensive *ADs...until you get into VRAD Vintage Razor Acquisition Disorder...that cost can get quite outrageous!

You bought a boar brush... yesterday... and it wasn't the Semogue Owner's Club brush?

I think either another purchase is in order or a frantic email to Leon to void that purchase and get the SOC instead. He might do it if it hasn't shipped yet.

I haven't come down with SBAD yet. That makes me both happy and anxious. I'm glad that I haven't spent any money on brushes yet, but I'm sure that the great and terrible day of reckoning is not far distant.

Sorry for the delay... Silvertip.
£57 isn't to bad. The Semogue is what I'm really looking forward to though if I'm honest. But I thought, with all the glowing reviews, why not try a Rooney.

Buying brushes is almost as infectious as buying razors.

To be fair, been wet shaving since January. I own a GEM, slant, HD and one of Bob's Razors...
I really came close to getting a Cobra, but that'll have to wait for another day.
As for the Semogue club 2000... Well, the 1305 was so highly rated...

The problem with this website/forum is, everytime you visit, you find something new you want to buy:tongue_sm

Well my friend...you haven't even begun to scratch the surface yet :tongue_sm. Wait 'til RAD gets complete control of you...then, will your will power be put to the true test :lol:.

Good luck :001_smile and enjoy the ride

I think the 12 steps end up looking like this...

  1. Buy first brush
  2. Buy another brush that isn't like the first brush
  3. Buy the brush that happens to be talked about most at the time you join B&B
  4. Buy a vintage brush to restore
  5. Buy the next brush that gets talked about due to being compared to a vintage brush and a TGN knot
  6. Reknot the handful of brushes you just bought from eBay after losing your mind in the Share Your Restore thread
  7. Buy the B&B LE brush
  8. Buy the brush that supports a great cause and because it is awesome
  9. Hunt down a brush in a higher grade than any of the previous brushes you just bought and buy it
  10. Buy the no longer made pre-vulfix Simpson from BST within 1 minute of it posting or never see it again
  11. Post pictures and compare all the brushes you have and then contemplate getting a Wee Scot for a travel kit, when in actuality it is to make a cool picture that makes all your other brushes look gigantic
  12. Post about how you think you have a brush acquisition problem and watch as complete strangers acknowledge it and post suggestions on what to get next

Bwahahahaha! Luckily, I'm not affected by this disorder, as my Trumper order arrived today with some free samples and that will keep me occupied until ... oh, dear Lord, just realized that this is a holiday weekend in the U.S. (apologies to you Brits, I think it unseemly to gloat), I hope the websites can still take orders (twitch).

Oh man, I've followed that list almost exactly. I just completed step 8 w/ the Eagle. Now I guess I have to go on to step 9, right?
