Recently I bought a Gillette made pocket edition, on the pictures it seemed it was tarnished, however when I received I noticed it was paint,
sadly whoever owned it before, started sanding it so a lot is gone.
Talking to a friend, we came to the conclusion it was painted either on a factory, or done very well (there are no marks of thicker paint, dust, etc etc)
That was the first thing it made me wonder, now I'm looking at the razor, and it seems a bit odd.
To me it looks like is silver plated (by the way is tarnishing)
Second, the date code is 280868 (Made is Canada, I don't know if they had different date codes, because that one is very early for this model)
Third, the ball end is smooth and feels a bit heavier than the regular ball ends.
Also the end of the razor is built diferently, is a whole piece, instead of a 3 piece razor.
Also, it feels a bit more solid, and the handle is slimmer than the regular ball ends.
The date code, is stamped on the opposite site (I attached a picture to explain)
The Gillette logo and printing looks different also: A bit bigger and Gillette written with big letters to finish in small ones (I checked my other razors and all have a uniform font)
Finally on top of the logo, there's another date code, but written upside down and backwards!!! is a bit hard for me to see it now,
but I believe it reads: 273 (maybe a 4 or 58) and i'm not so sure but it looks like either number or simbols.
A while ago, I had an Aristocrat 66 with 2 Gillette logos (one written upside down aswell, but I've never seen a date code like that)
Now the case, to lock it, it has a triangle, I will post pictures of the case tomorrow, my camera's battery's just died.
As you can see the end is different, I think I saw a slim ball end, but I can't find it, and in Achim's website, I couldn't find a "smooth ball end"

Now, looking at that Gillette logo (the one on the last picture) it looks like the ones printed on the hot water bottles, don't you think?

Unfortunately it doesn't have the patch inside the case, so I have no details of the case itself.
