Gillette Senator as a shaver?

Hi Guys,

I have the chance of a Gillette Senator and I just wndered what these were like as a shaver?

I suspect that they may be similar in use to the 'new' being a more recent (than the old type) open comb?

sort of an open-comb Super Speed?

Maybe I'm way off track though...

I think your assessment is pretty close. It is not an aggressive razor. I like the Senator plus I consider it my birth year razor.

A very mild and pleasant shaver IMO. Cold use a little more weight perhaps.

I get an invariably good shave from my Senator!

Well, I'll most likely replate it if it's in poor condition, I'll give it a go and if I decide not to keep it, I'll let you know

I don't know about this razor being mild. I think the aggressiveness is just right. Shaves wonderfully. Gave me a closer shave in less passes than my futur set on 5. Usually takes me 4 passes with my futur to get a bbs shave. I got a bbs shave in 2 passes and finishing touches.
I got my senator in mint condition (never been used in the past).

I have in my short career owned and shaved with 2 Senators. Sold one here and kept the other for myself. It feels very similar, at least to me, to a New, and the New is my favorite DE. The open comb just seems to work for me.
