I have six Super Speeds, ranging from a late 1940's to a 1960 Flare Tip.
Here are the '55 Blue Tip, the '53 (birth year) and the '52 Super Speeds. Three amazing razors.
I always shave with one of my vintage Gillettes every Sunday morning. It's become a tradition.

I decided to compare a recently purchased ‘58 blue tip to my favorite Super-Speed, a late ‘40’s. From what I’ve read it’s likely a ‘49.

The ‘49 gives me an effective, efficient shave with no blade feel, every time. The ‘58 was very close in performance but I could feel just a bit of the edge.

Both gave a BBS shave.

Razor: Leaf Thorn
Blade: 1/2 Derby Extra (3)
Cream: Trader Joe's Honey Mango
Brush: Hand-applied
AS: Speick Splash

About as simple and sweet as I can get. Forgot to change the blade out and got an extra round with the Derby Extra. Worked just fine.

Leaf Twig
1/2 Wilkinson Sword (German) - 2
Trader Joe's Honey Mango Cream
Proraso/Omega "Professional" Boar
Duke Cannon ASB

My normal 2-pass shave after 48 hours. The first shave with the W-S was closer, so I need to call this blade a "one-and-done."
