What's new

Let's do the TWIST – The TTO Club

There are several stellar Clubs on B&B devoted to vintage razors (The Tech Appreciation Society, VGRFC, and the Order of Gillette Adjustables), but there isn't a specific Club for fixed gap Gillette TTOs or for the marvels that are Micromatics.

Show off your Aristocrats and Diplomats, your Presidents and Populars, your Super Speeds and Senators, your MMOCs and Clog-Prufs in SOTD pics, general discussion, reviews, rebuilds, salvages, and replate experiences.

Let's give them the place of honor they deserve on B&B!

All TTOs are welcome, but, as mentioned, there is already a Club for the adjustable variety. I don't want to distract from that fine Club and its gentlemanly members.

So, twist those doors open, drop in a blade, and tell us of your adventures!

1939 Popular.

My Mother would have turned 85 on 26 November. She passed away from Alzheimer's in July after a lengthy battle.

In her memory, I will be using her birth year razor in her birth month.

Absolutely! My MMOC will make an appearance some day.

Darn. I wish I could edit the first post and make it clear that any TTO is desired. I'm literally as dumb as a bag of hammers.

I've owned and used Super Speeds for decades and still learned something last week.
This 1952 black tip with steel head and handle weighs 45g where a standard brass one is 55g.

full

That's 1.59 ounces for @DesertIguana

Lighter by 10 grams! I guess the steel is stronger so Gillette figured they could make the parts thinner.

Returning to vintages after using modern titanium razors for quite a while, they all feel like they weigh a ton. Or tonne.

Correct Answer gets no 🏆.
I have the same version, (but used way more, not as shiny, and looks like the dog chewed on the handle, :)) and I came to the conclusion it's a '47, too. Mr-razor shows two of them on his website and even calls one a Super-Speed/Aristocrat Jr.
