I did some googling. Is this a 1948 Aristocrat No15 Rhodium plated? Is it worth anything, or just a mainstream razor? Razor is in very good condition.

Hello,

numbers define sets, not razors. Without a case it's a 4th generation British Aristocrat in rhodium. With a case it could be a No 66 or No 22 (No 70 if nickel plated, but it looks to be rhodium).

1st gen Aristocrat: open comb TTO

2nd gen Aristocrat: closed comb TTO with flat base plate

3rd gen Aristocrat: closed comb TTO with flat base plate and Rocket style handle

4th gen Aristocrat: closed comb TTO with stamped base plate and Rocket style handle

Take a look at Achims site:

I think you are right with the 4th gen #22. It weights 73g with patent pending on the top. Paid $13 locally.

I dont have the case unfortunately...

It could be a No 22 or No 66, the same razor in different cases. Just for further confusion, there was a No 66 and No 22 set with aluminum handle gen 4 Aristocrats.

I guess I will stop wondering what it is and just shave with it. This whole DE razor thing is confussing.

Looks to be a great razor that was cheap. I like the jimping (hope that the right word) on the handle, great feel even with wet hands.

I really like the look of Aristocrat razors, do they feel nice in the hand?
How do they shave? I know that's truly a personal thing but I may like to get one to try. They seem to be going for a much higher price than I paid in the past for vintage Gillettes - inflation or overpriced?
Thanks for any help.

I only got it earlier today and still need to shave my whiskers. I did a quick test on my leg and it feels very mild. The grip is grippy and “heavy”. The gaurd makes it effortless once you get the blade angle right.

Might be a gift to my wife as she shave her legs with a shavette and will most likely enjoy the DE, its quick.

I have one with patent pending etched on the blade tray and it came in a #66 set. Later versions of #66
had the patent no 694093 on them.

Put a new feather blade in it....the shave is transformed to highly efficient with a very comfortable smooth effect.

Well my friend if you ever want to sell that bad boy you let me know! I have a #66 set that would love to have another sibling! LOL
