What's new

Gillette Russian Silver Blues vs. Gillette 7 O'clock Yellows

Have any of you used both?
I like Mid-Aggressive blades.
If you have, what are your thoughts?

Or dare I ask, anything better? (I know, everyone different and personal choice)

I only recently tried GSB after reading so much praise for them. I don't find them particularly sharp, but they are very smooth and comfortable and seem to be sharp enough to give me great shaves. Yesterday I experimented by swapping back and forth between a GSB with 5 shaves and one with 3 shaves and a brand new one. I could barely tell the difference - how many shaves do you get out of a GSB before you bin them?

I prefer a little sharper blade than GSB but I'm still getting used to them and they are starting to win me over.

I went 7 shaves on one before just binning it from habit/schedule. Probably could have squeezed in a few more.

Of course YMMV, yada, yada, but this week I binned a Gillette Minora Stainless after only three shaves, so I can definitely detect degradation in cutting ability/resistance.

I think for myself part of the appeal of the GSB is it retains its good feel across multiple usages. It may be that it has dulled some (of course it has upon use), but I will have trashed the blade long before it becomes unpleasant to shave with.

I've never ordered two hundred blades of them all at once and well there's always a first time that happens.
It's not true!
I had completely forgotten in recent months that I had purchased two hundred Matgicol Super Platino blades and the Treet Kings; it's crazy how hard and too much work this month makes me forget about my shopping and shaving stuff. 🤦‍♂️
Also a few years ago I had purchased three hundred or maybe four hundred Euromax blades from India, then maybe a hundred more blades.

I only remember the orange Ascos around eighty, many of which I still have.
Tomorrow it will be the turn of two hundred of my favorite GSBs.
And I'm getting the idea to get another hundred Gillette 7' O'clock Yellow Sharpedge.

Once you start, it's hard to stop.

You're absolutely right Alex!
Then it will be the turn of another hundred green Gillette 7 O'clock blades or both Indian Permasharp and Russian blades. 😂🤣
I haven't tried the Russian green Gillette 7 O'clock unlike the Permasharp ones.

The Gillette 7 O'clock Indians were quite sharp and very sweet for me.
