Gillette Platinum

These are current production AFAIK & are made in St Petersburg. I'm always pleasantly surprised when I try a new Gillette blade but these are probably the best along with the Super Thin Platinum from Viet Nam (IMO/YMMV &c.) I always favour blades that are sharp and smooth and these definitely did not disappoint. They are also very long lasting, which is an added bonus.

I tried the ones that the OP is talking about several months ago and wasn't fond of them, found them a bit rough. However, the blades in the pack pictured below are on the verge of replacing Astra SPs as my go-to blade. They offer a perfect balance of smooth and sharp. I get five great 2-pass DFS shaves per blade, and I'm sure I could push them for at least seven if I so desired.

One poster on another shaving forum said they're on par with Iridiums. He's wrong - these are better, IMO.

Does anyone know if these white pack Plats are the exact same as the blue border pack Plats? I ask because my bad experience with those may have been more due to bad technique than bad blades.

Patrik, you are lucky to have access to these blades for a decent price. Several forum members who tried them felt them to be identical to the Iridiums, most likely the same blade. The member in Finland who had access to them noted that they were very expensive where he lives. These don't appear to be available in Western Europe or the U.S. I wish they were.

Regards,

In Greece these blades are much cheaper and easily found. Unfortunately they do not work well on my face :( (super irridiums also are a no go for me).

These are sold in Spain. I was there for a few days and some supermarkets sell them. They cost about EUR 4.50 for 5 blades.

They are also sold in Portugal. A pack of 5 costs around 2.29 to 2.49 Euro. These are the most expensive blades you can find here.
I tried them a while ago, when I was starting to use a DE razor, but I plan on revisiting them soon.

It would be interesting to try these head to head with the blue border box and the 7 0'Clock blues to see if these are just the same blade.
