Gillette NEW Bar Handle.

Here is a razor I picked up today for $6.87 at the local antique store. Had to make a few store walkins before I found one. I beleive its a Gillette NEW Bar Handle correct me if I wrong. Cant wait to clean it and pop a razor in it and shave. I think I have a full bore RAD now . I will take after pics in a while and let you guys know how it shaves when I farm some more beard for it.

You are correct. It's a Gillette NEW, a razor that many regard as the quintessential razor of the 1930's. Hint: for my medium to coarse beard a Feather blade is a little harsh, but any other quality blade gives an outsanding shave.

Great score! Use a bit of mild polish on it and it will look really sharp. I just polished up one yesterday that had the plating worn off the top cap..the copper gives it a pretty cool look.

I got one of these in a lot not too long back. I cleaned it up as best I could and have been using it as my travel razor. With an Astra SP in it, I like it just as much as any of my other vintage Gillettes.

Shaved with it last night loaded with a once used wilky , it wasnt bad. Closest shave ive had so far. Cant imagine it with a feather , its going to be EPIC.

I have to say, mine is my most favorite razor of my collection to use right now. Best shave I have ever had.

Of the Vintage Gillette' I have used Old Type, NEW, 40's Super Speed, Flare Tip Super Speed, 1970 Super Speed, Fat Boy Adjustable, Slim Adjustable, Trac II and Atra and out of all of them I like the NEW the best of all and it's my daily shaver. I have a Bar Handled NEW and an early No Patent Numbers NEW which I have mounted on a Bull Mastiff handle. A better shave cannot be found. I like Derby and Personna Reds in mine.

Ive used it twice now with feather. Awesome shave , finally went ATG on my cheeks so smooth. Neck was a different story , it started stinging and getting irritated. wtg xtg on my neck is still a DFS and I think ill have to settle there.

Ha! Just scored a cased 1934 de lux today. I'll use it on my next weekend on some day and a half growth. Excited.

Shaved with one of my short-comb, bar handle NEWs this morning. Mated with a Shark SC blade, it hard to find an easier, smoother combination.
