Gillette Bostonian with a spacer ring on handle?

I saw a Gillette razor advertised as a Bostonian, and to all appearances it looked like a Bostonian I have seen in pictures here and on Mr Razor's site. The only odd thing is at the bottom of the handle there is a metal ring that seems to slip over the internal part and spaces between the main body and the twist part that secures the head. Did Gillette ever make something like this, or is it just a make-shift thing? The razor has all the right markings, Gillette trademark, serial number, and Pat.Jan13 1920.

I will try to get a picture of it up as soon as I can. Photobucket is having issues at the moment.

Yea a pic would help............

So, Gillette never sold one like that?

Not even a little. That looks like someone sheared off the top of an eye bolt. Maybe someone just mixed it in with the razor at some point and thought it went with it, or maybe someone wanted to created a finger stop there at the bottom of the handle for increased grip. :confused1 I've seen razors where the threads on the end weakened to where they wouldn't grip anymore, so someone cut the handle tube shorter to reach threads that would bite, but I can't think of any other reason why someone would want to lengthen it.

The cap looks securely seated.

I wonder if the cap was from a different razor that had a longer post.

Something odd there. The handle doesn't look shortened either, but if you look at the picture with the case it fits even with the addition of the ring..
