gillette blue gold special?

Found a "gillette blue gold special" in the original box it looked in excellent shape. It was locked up in a glass cabinet and the people working were having a better time socializing than helping customers... so I left without actually touching it.
So I called back today and was told that they were busy and they'd call back...well when I did get to finally ask about it the lady said it looked unused and that everything appeared to be there. Price was $34.95.
I've looked everywhere and cannot find a reference price for it... Is that a good price??
Thanks
Scott

What does it look like? Do you have a picture of it? Do a google image search and post a picture like it. Other wise its hard to help.

Here it is: $1940 Blue Gold Special 1940 USA.jpg

Haven't got it yet... Is that a fair price for it ($34.95).. haven't ever seen one, so I have no Idea what they go for???

Offer 'em $0.59. That's what it says right on the box.

If you're a collector who's going to just display the allegedly NOS razor, then the price is probably fair. OTOH, if you're going to shave with it, NEW razors can be had on the B/S/T for considerably less.

I have toyed with getting one of these on Ebay, and I would say that is a decent price, especially in the condition overall. You might want to negotiate a little. The box is in better shape than most. The blades are not there, so it is not totally new, but for an NOS open comb Gillette, I'd say you are doing pretty well. Also not that the plating is kinda thin, so it may start to look a little worse for wear.

That's just a photo for a fellow who wanted to see what I was talking about, it's not the actual set.. Heck, I couldn't get waited on at the Antique Shop to see it, jeez. I'll check it over real good and look for some of the things y'all have suggested, and I'll start the price haggling at .59 as was suggested also...lol!!
But from what I saw and they described it's all NOS, I'll take it apart and see also. I've just never seen one of these all together like that though, so I had no idea where to start haggling.

Personally I'd have no problem paying what they ask if it's a complete set in good condition, but if you can save a few bucks, more power to you.

First of all, it is not a commonly-found razor in any condition. The cardboard case lent itself to being disposed of once it started to deteriorate. Without the box, it is just another bar-handle NEW.

Secondly, true NOS razors are hard to come by as well. Remember, by definination, NOS items have never been sold at retail, therefore, are New Old Stock. Once retailed and opened, they become "unused" or "mint" at best.

Thirdly, NEW razors were minimally plated. Any NEW with complete and intact plating is worth a premium.

All that being said, I'd say the price was fair . . . but that wouldn't stop me from trying to haggle a little!!

Ya gotta haggle a little.. that's half the fun of it!!

I have a 1930's New DeLuxe bar handle. And I can say that it a fantastic shaving razor for sure. Not that you would want to use a NOS razor. But heck maybe you do it's a keeper for sure.
