So, I feel like I am a bit late to the party in trying this blade, but boy am I glad I did!
From reading the many threads on the Gillette Black Super Platinum from India, I knew it would be very smooth and sharp. I had an idea of what it might be like in my head: the smoothness of a Personna Med Prep combined with the sharpness of a Feather. Turns out, that's a fairly accurate description.
However, nothing could have prepared me for the shave I was about to experience nor my reaction to it....
The shave was just plain eerie. There, I said it: eerie as in strange, weird, kind of bizarre...not at all what I expected.
Why? Because it didn't feel like I was shaving. The blade kind of just whisked across my face. I could barely feel it. Zero tugging or pulling. I couldn't even feel or hear the hairs being cut.
Instead, my facial hair kind of just magically disappeared.
I guess, I'm just kind of used to, and like having some sort of feedback from the blade.
Now this only has been my first shave with the Black. Way too early for a sound judgement.
I suppose, many would say this is the ideal blade for the properties that I have just described. And many people do in fact say just that.
For me, now, I'm just a deer in headlights. Kind of a shock and awe thing.
It's definitely different from any other blade I've tried. My favorite? I don't know yet.
Anyone else have this same experience with the Black?
