Gillette 3pc ID Help Please !!!

This find was outside my normal criteria ( British TTO ), but it looked in such good condition and the price was right........... :001_tongu

I've also wanted to try a shave with a open comb and #15 and the like are very hard to come by ( and expensive when you do ) , so figured this'll be something completely different, open comb and 3 pc :001_smile

I've look on Mr Razors site, but can't find anything similar.

Note the head is soooo shiney. Am I Aristocrat infected or does that look like Rhodium Head to anyone else or is it just the good old British plating ???

Any help identifying greatly appreciated..

I've got two british new improved razors with the same handles (different head though),
they are odd ball handles and heads that no one has seen before.
I think Luc has one like yours with a NEW head, but is an oddball too.
His is here: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=85401 and the weird slot spacing here: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=89151

edit: I've just noticed something about yours. That is the first razor head I've seen that actually needs the inside perpendicular slots that blades have cut out in them. First one besides early TTO gillettes that needs the outside slots too.

Photo of the weird head mine has attached to the same handle as yours and Lucs.

Good work Pablo!

It looks like a Gillette NEW long. I had the same handle. Your head seems to have the four notchs in the corners like the NEW made in USA.

I bet you won't be disappointed in the shave!

I wonder if there were some people just playing around with heaps of different head designs?
Were they trying to mess with our heads?
I also just realised they with the weird "keyhole" type holes in mine, that it could use a old/NI head, or the 2x small slot type head(cap) similar to Lucs (it would have to smaller though). But it would explain the weird shape.

Thanks for the info guys.

With this one, with the corner notches and the vertical and the horizontal holders, the head ain't misaligning no matter what happens :001_smile

Hopefully get a chance to give it a run this weekend

Of course they did

I'm constantly amazed how well these old razors hold up given their age.

Assuming this is from the 1930's it's around 70 years old.

In the box ( underneath the box of 1 wrapped blade ) were about a dozen used Gillette Blue blades ( X3 and Y1 ) and it was pretty dirty pre cleanup. So it's definitely been used.

I've been thinking, what do we use today that will still be around and functional in 70 years time ??????

The old adage " they don't make things like they used to " certainly holds true :001_smile

If you happen to not like the shave, I'd love to take that razor off your hands. I love 3 piece open combs
