Gilette adjustable gone bad

Suddenly, my long-handled Gillette adjustable is holding blades off-center. That is, one side of it is much more aggressive than the other. Very noticeable after a year of flawless shaving. Lots o' blood. I have given it a quick scrub with a toothbrush standing in the shower and it still seems to open and close and adjust nicely. I will take a closer look when I get the chance but I was wondering if anyone here has had that experience and if there is something in particular I should look for.

Cat knocked it to the floor?

Seriously though, as the OP suggested, DEs don't "go bad" but a drop will knock them out of allignment most every time. With a bit of judicious work, they can be saved

It should be noted that most times, bent parts can be bent back into place without disassembly.

Also noteworthy is that the vintagesaws link does not instruct you how to remove a crimped cap, which later fatboys, then slims, then super adjustables had.

And then, it should ALSO be noted that the workaround for crimped fittings is a little more dangerous on a super adjustable, because the aluminum just doesn't hold up as well as brass under that kind of work.
