Getting cream from a tub

I just picked up some of the ocean kelp cream at AOS (too bad they don't make a soap) but was wondering how you guys go about getting the cream out to lather it up? I am a bowl latherer, btw.

Do you use some type of tool to get the cream out and into the bowl or do you just dip the brush into the tub and "load" it like doing a soap? Some other way entirely?

THanks!

I was wondering the same thing myself as I have a tub of AOS Sandalwood. I read earlier today to wet your brush then gently press it into the tub so the tips of the bristles get coated in cream. I have been using a butter knife to scopp out a nickel's worth onto my brush.

There are two major schools of thought here:

1. Scoop out of the tub(with or w/o utensil) and put a dollop into your bowl for lathering

2. "Dip and Twist" the tips of the brush in the tub, then proceed to build lather in bowl

I use a spoon that can likely be found in any kitchen in the world. I don't like putting my wet brush in the cream and don't want to use my fingers.

I stick my clean finger in the tub, take out a small dollop and put that in my brush. I'm a new guy so I might be doing it wrong though.

I use a baby spoon that my wife had when she was a baby. The head is about the size of an almond. Perfect.

+1 on both methods, although I find the first is a little more accurate.

Man up and stick your finger in it! Then wipe on brush and have a good shave!
Haha! Nice!

If someone who is not into wet shaving reads this (and many other) threads, he/she will think these people either have some mental illness or have too much time on their hands... Sorry, could not resist. :001_tongu
